Municipality of Chioggia

The site includes a series of consolidated dunes representing the oldest dunal system on the coast between Chioggia and the Po and, as such, has interesting naturalistic features and an exceptional testimonial importance. In fact, it represents one of the few remaining examples of a coastal climatic forest, together with the Bosco di Valgrande at Bibione, the wooded relics of the Cavallino Biophenological Station, and, outside the region, the Boscone della Mesola.

The choice of this site, which, for some specific features, differs to the other project sites, is linked to the presence of the 2250* habitat, which in the Veneto Region only highlights cartographically appreciable surfaces on this site (about 23% of the regional surface) and on sites along the north-east coastal area, and included in this project (Penisola del Cavallino and Laguna di Caorle – Foce del Tagliamento). The inclusion of the Bosco Nordio site therefore allows for recovery and improvement actions on the totality of the 2250 * areas, currently registered in the Region and cover a total of just over 1 ha. Similarly, despite the surfaces on this 2130 * habitat site not being very high, their redevelopment would make Bosco Nordio a source site for other Natura 2000 sites located nearby and strongly isolated from the coastal sector by a predominantly rural landscape .

  • Redevelopment and extension of two priority edafo-xerophilous series habitats (2130* and 2250*) for a total surface of about 24.000 sq. m
  • Installation of fences (about 150 ml) to limit anthropic disturbances in redeveloped areas
  • The positioning of descriptive panels about the environment
